I am about to buy a Kalmar Tjorven

Hi there,

After a period of hardly any progress we are now at the point where we can start rebuilding.

There is a challenge that we need to solve though.
The spring caps of the rear suspension are in real bad shape.

We have removed them from the chassis and after some discussion with the daf-club we found out that they are adjusted daf-44 spring caps welded to the chassis.
Unfortenatedly they don't have replacement parts for it.

Has someone had any experience with this? and how did you solve it?

Sadly the DAF-parts of Tjorven chassi usually go bad first, front axle and rear upper spring caps.

I ”built” my own of 3mm sheet metal like in the pictures below.

Where did you buy the 'bucket-shape' from?
Or is that a part that is actually available? the rear suspension is missing from the parts book I have.

I was surprised to see a tow bar on this Kalmar. Is this a standard part, or is this a home made solution?
If it is a standard part, is there some one who has one available?

I dont remember where i bought the bucket.

I have seen tow bars in different forms but i dont know if they are home made or factory. Its a very unusual option so i think it will be hard to find one. Tjorven is only allowed to tow 300kg.

We also came to the conclusion that it were the caps of a Daf44 cut in half.
Unfortunately we could not find original replacement parts...

We now made them from springcaps that had roughly the right shape and adapted them.

Will post some pictures later. Our frame is now sandblasted and the new caps are welded on, so the frame is ready for 'schoperen' and paintjob.
